The Problem

UK tax compliance is notoriously fragmented. While the official HMRC portal provides the function, it lacks the supportive logic needed for complex cases like expatriate residency or landlord taxes. Users were faced with high cognitive load and a lack of real-time expert guidance.

The Strategy

The core strategy was to build a One Digital Tax Hub. Instead of designing isolated screens, I architected a modular framework where every tax procedure —from self-employment to payroll— follows a consistent logical flow, powered by a custom Design System.
